First there is discussion on this horses conformation. Pro's and con's of this particular horses natural build. Walk work, getting more overstep and relaxation and moving on to a proper trot warmup. Next they move to the canter work. Establishing healthy contact and straightness and balance. Alex explains that when the canter becomes choppy and hopping you need to give on the bit to release some of the pressure and then go forward. The very beginnings of lateral work are introduced. Leg yield discussion on how to set it up to get a better result. He mentions that when a horse is very young you often have to overemphasize the aid but then once they understand you have to go back to using a subtle light aid. This horse liked to throw his haunches in during his up and down transitions and he explains how to work on correcting this. Lastly they finish with a bit of counter canter work.
